Guide
Foot tingling causes: what health agencies list, and what to check first
Foot tingling causes include diabetes, a vitamin B12 shortage, alcohol, some medicines and pressure on a nerve, according to NINDS, NIH and Mayo Clinic. A supplement cannot tell you which one applies. New, lasting or two-sided tingling needs a clinician. Sudden one-sided numbness or weakness is a 911 call. Flow Nerves is a capsule with no trial behind it.

Causes
What causes tingling in the hands and feet?
Tingling in the hands and feet has many causes, and health agencies name diabetes, a vitamin B12 shortage, alcohol, some medicines and pressure on a nerve among the common ones (NINDS, Peripheral neuropathy) (Mayo Clinic, Peripheral neuropathy).
NINDS says peripheral neuropathy has more than 100 types. Which cause fits one person is a question for an exam and tests, not for a guess or a bottle. Keep taking prescribed medicine exactly as directed; ask your clinician or pharmacist before any change.
What the health agencies say can cause nerve symptoms in the hands and feet
Cause 1 of 5
Diabetes
The leading cause of peripheral neuropathy in the U.S.; about two-thirds of people with diabetes have some nerve problem (NINDS)
(NINDS, Peripheral neuropathy) (Mayo Clinic, Peripheral neuropathy) (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12)
Cause 2 of 5
Vitamin B12 shortage
Can cause numbness and tingling in hands and feet, even without anemia; metformin and acid reducers can lower B12 absorption (NIH)
(NINDS, Peripheral neuropathy) (Mayo Clinic, Peripheral neuropathy) (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12)
Cause 3 of 5
Alcohol, medicines, toxins
Alcohol use disorder, some cancer, heart, infection and seizure medicines, and toxins (NINDS, Mayo Clinic)
(NINDS, Peripheral neuropathy) (Mayo Clinic, Peripheral neuropathy) (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12)
Cause 4 of 5
Pressure on a nerve
A cast, crutches, repetitive motion or an injury (Mayo Clinic)
(NINDS, Peripheral neuropathy) (Mayo Clinic, Peripheral neuropathy) (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12)
Cause 5 of 5
Other conditions
Kidney, liver or thyroid disease, infections and autoimmune disease; sometimes no cause is found (Mayo Clinic)
(NINDS, Peripheral neuropathy) (Mayo Clinic, Peripheral neuropathy) (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12)
This is background from agency pages. A supplement cannot tell you which cause applies to you; a clinician's exam and tests can.
Diabetes
Can diabetes cause numb feet?
Yes. NINDS calls diabetes the leading cause of peripheral neuropathy in the U.S., and says about two-thirds of people with diabetes have some nerve problem (NINDS, Peripheral neuropathy).
NIDDK says one-third to one-half of people with diabetes have the peripheral type (NIDDK, Diabetic neuropathy). If you have diabetes and your feet feel numb, tell your care team soon, and call promptly about any sore on a numb foot. A clinician can check blood sugar; a supplement does not.
Urgent signs
When is foot tingling a reason to get care today?
Sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body, is a reason to call 911 right away, because CDC lists it among the signs of a stroke (CDC, Stroke signs and symptoms).
The same page lists trouble speaking, seeing or walking and a sudden severe headache. Chest pain, trouble breathing and loss of bladder or bowel control also need emergency care. Mayo Clinic says to seek medical care right away for new tingling, weakness or pain in the hands or feet (Mayo Clinic, Peripheral neuropathy). The sorter below is not a diagnosis.
Which of these is closest to what you notice?
Pick one to see how the sources say to act on it.
UrgentGet emergency care now
CDC lists these as stroke signs and says to call 9-1-1 right away. Do not wait to try a supplement. (CDC, Stroke signs and symptoms)
Not a diagnosis. A supplement is not a way to wait this out.
UrgentGet emergency care now
Go to emergency care now; these are not supplement questions. (Mayo Clinic, Peripheral neuropathy)
Not a diagnosis. A supplement is not a way to wait this out.
SoonSee a clinician promptly
Mayo Clinic says to seek medical care right away: early diagnosis and treatment give the best chance of managing symptoms and preventing further nerve damage. (Mayo Clinic, Peripheral neuropathy) (NINDS, Peripheral neuropathy)
Not a diagnosis. A supplement is not a way to wait this out.
SoonSee a clinician promptly
Tell your care team promptly; diabetes is the leading cause of peripheral neuropathy (NINDS) and NIDDK describes nerve damage as a diabetes complication. (NIDDK, Diabetic neuropathy) (NINDS, Peripheral neuropathy)
Not a diagnosis. A supplement is not a way to wait this out.
SoonSee a clinician promptly
NIH says B12 deficiency can cause numbness and tingling without anemia, and that these groups are at higher risk: ask about a B12 test. (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12)
Not a diagnosis. A supplement is not a way to wait this out.
RoutineMention it at your next visit
Mayo Clinic lists nerve pressure and repetitive motion among causes. Mention it at your next visit; do not self-treat a pattern that keeps coming back. (Mayo Clinic, Peripheral neuropathy)
Not a diagnosis. A supplement is not a way to wait this out.
A reading aid built from the linked agency pages. It cannot tell you what is wrong. Sudden one-sided weakness, trouble speaking, chest pain or trouble breathing: call 911.
B12 and medicines
Can low vitamin B12 or a medicine cause numb feet?
Yes. NIH says a vitamin B12 shortage can cause numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, even without anemia (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12).
Older adults, vegans, vegetarians and people who take metformin or acid reducers are at higher risk. A clinician can order a B12 test. B12 is not one of the six named ingredients in Flow Nerves. Our B12 guide has the detail. Alcohol and some medicines are also on the agency lists (Mayo Clinic, Peripheral neuropathy); tell the prescriber about any new one, and do not stop it on your own.

Do neuropathy supplements for feet work?
No study we found shows that any of the six ingredients in Flow Nerves changes tingling or numbness in people who simply have those feelings, and no trial tested the capsule itself.
| Ingredient | Who, dose and time | What it found |
|---|---|---|
| Alpha lipoic acid | 10 trials, 1,242 people with diabetic neuropathy; about 600 to 1,800 mg a day by mouth (Hsieh 2023, oral alpha-lipoic acid meta) | Better symptom score, but not pain, vibration threshold or nerve conduction |
| Alpha lipoic acid | 460 people, 600 mg a day for 4 years (Ziegler 2011, NATHAN 1 oral alpha-lipoic acid) | Main goal not met; some secondary scores better |
| Acetyl-L-carnitine | 4 trials, 907 people, 1,500 to 3,000 mg a day (Rolim 2019, acetyl-L-carnitine neuropathy (Cochrane)) | Very low certainty; Flow Nerves names L-carnitine, not this form |
| Nanocurcumin | 97 people, 40 mg twice a day for 16 weeks (Mansour 2025, nanocurcumin neuropathy trial) | No difference in pain or neuropathy scores |
| Butcher's broom, magnesium glycinate, coenzyme Q10 | We found no nerve trial for any of them | We found no source |
All were in people already diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy. The seller prints no amount for any ingredient, so nobody can say whether the capsule is near a studied dose, and we hold no Supplement Facts panel.
The capsule
Where does Flow Nerves fit when your feet tingle?
Flow Nerves is a once-daily capsule, 30 to a bottle, and it comes after the cause is checked, not before. It is not a gummy, a liquid or a neuropathy medicine.
The bottle front reads “Nerve Support*”, and the sales copy is aimed at “the nerve endings in your hands, feet, and legs”. Those are the seller's words, and we found no study that tested them on this capsule (Flow Nerves seller brief).
Ask your doctor or pharmacist first if you take warfarin or another blood thinner, insulin or diabetes medicine, thyroid hormone, antibiotics, seizure medicine or chemotherapy. Turmeric has liver injury reports in LiverTox; dark urine or yellow skin or eyes means stop and get care (LiverTox, Turmeric). See the medicines page.
Next steps
What should you do first about numb or tingling feet?
Get the cause checked first, then decide about any supplement with a clinician or pharmacist who knows your medicines.
Read more on the when to see a clinician page, or the nerve basics guide. If you decide to look at the capsule after that, the ingredients page shows all six names and what we hold.
FAQ
Foot tingling questions
Why do my feet tingle at night?
We found no agency page that explains night tingling alone. Mayo Clinic and NINDS list diabetes, B12 shortage, alcohol, medicines and nerve pressure as causes. Tingling that is new, lasting or in both feet needs a clinician.
Can a supplement fix numb feet?
No source we read shows a supplement fixes numb feet, and none tested Flow Nerves. Agencies point to finding the cause first. A clinician can check B12, blood sugar and your medicines.
Should I take vitamin B12 for tingling feet?
Ask first. NIH says B12 shortage can cause tingling, and a clinician can test your level. Flow Nerves does not list B12 among its six named ingredients.
What tests might a clinician order for numb feet?
The agency pages we read point to B12, blood sugar and a nerve exam as questions to raise. Your clinician decides which tests fit. Bring a list of medicines and supplements.
Can nerve pressure make hands tingle?
Yes. Mayo Clinic lists a cast, crutches and repetitive motion among causes of nerve pressure. Tingling that follows one posture and keeps returning is worth raising at your next visit.
Is Flow Nerves a gummy for foot tingling?
No. Flow Nerves is a once-daily capsule, 30 to a bottle, and not a gummy or a liquid. The seller's FAQ says one capsule with a meal; confirm on the bottle.
